The Decision to Place Your Child for Adoption Can be Made at Different Times

As a pregnant woman considering adoption, you are in complete control of your adoption journey. Every decision in the process of making an adoption plan, including the timing, is up to you.

Some mothers choose to make an adoption plan for their child when they first find out they are pregnant. Others make an adoption decision at the hospital right before, or even after their child is born. Some mothers choose adoption when their child is older. When that decision takes place is as varied as the personalities of the different women we work with. Whether you are currently pregnant, at the hospital ready to deliver your baby, or even struggling to parent an infant or toddler, adoption is always an option that’s open to you.

Wherever you are in the decision-making process, My Choice Adoptions is prepared to meet with you any time, in person, to discuss the services available to you and your child. There are many prospective adoptive families that are very interested and excited about adopting, so there will be many families for you to choose from.

We recently worked with birth parents who needed to place their two-year old for adoption. In this particular case, the birth parents asked us to find a same-sex couple for their child. Because unlike other agencies, we at My Choice never discriminate against anyone, they were able to select the exact type of family they wanted for their child to be raised by. The birth parents met with the adoptive parents and were happy with their choice. The child is in open adoption where there is ongoing contact between the birth parents and the adoptive parents. They remain in contact through phone calls, face time, texts and even visits. It’s great for us too because we get to hear about all the great things the child is doing and experiencing with her two dads! It’s even better for us to when we hear how the happy the child’s birth parents are because they can see their child living the life they always wanted for her!

Florida law allows us to help pay your living expenses if you choose adoption while you are pregnant and up to 6 weeks after your delivery. Even if you choose adoption after you deliver, we can financially support you for up to 6 weeks after your delivery date. We’re here to help make sure you get the care you need while you recover from your pregnancy. When the 6 weeks after your delivery is over, we can still assist you in making an adoption plan for your child; however, financial assistance is not legally possible after the 6-week timeframe. We will always provide counseling and emotional support for a mother that chooses adoption, no matter when she makes that decision.

So, if you find yourself at the hospital having just given birth and you decide that parenting is not the best option for you and your baby, you still have time to make an adoption plan. We will come to meet you at the hospital, your home, or wherever you are most comfortable. If you are currently parenting your child and life’s circumstances, have you in a difficult spot where you just can’t do it anymore, we understand and we will never, ever judge you.

We are always available to discuss your options with you and tell you about the services we have available whenever and wherever you need us.

We will meet you where you are on your journey and offer you judgement-free support.
